"Standing tall is a very admirable thing. There are very few stories in history of heroes who slouched to the rescue. Likewise, most individuals don't look up to people who are drooped over."

Foto Story Friday #30 -- Costa Maya, Mexico

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

The last port we visited was Costa Maya, Mexico.  The exchange rate here is: $1US dollar to 10.90 New Mexican Peso.  One thing we noticed about this part of Mexico compared to Guatemala and Belize is that is is very flat.
Here is the light house as seen from the ship.
Colorful building mark the costal business district of Costa Maya.
Looking down coast, away from the touristy area.
Mexican poilce on the pier.  After a hurking long walk down the pier.  {photo by my father-in-law}
 You are met by these colorful residents ready to take your picture in front of this sign and temple with this scantily clad man and two well clad women.  I just wanted the sign that said welcome to Costa Maya.
There was some sort of mix-up and one of our busses was half an hour late.  It was a long hot wait in the Mexican sun.  One older couple decided not to take the excursion.  {photo by my father-in-law}
Some sights on our 2 hour bus ride out to the ruins.
There is a taco shop ... bet it's good.
Finally we arrive at the ruins, pronounced: ko-hawn-leech.  After a quick potty break, we head down the road and are met by some very loud noises.  Howler monkeys!  Our guide related a funny story about the moneys and then we quick went to check them out.
It was quite the hike to find the noisy creatures.
See em?  There were several of them up in this tree howling for all they were worth!

Is there a place to get your picture taken with a well clad man, and two scantily clad women?

Just asking...

What exactly is a hurking walk, anyway?

Looks like a great time!

Chris-I guess hurking long walk , means BIG! And I didn't see any scantily clad women, guess they were out to please the gals this time! :)

Great pictures. I love the bright colours of the buildings.

What a welcome with that fellow in what looks like a mini skirt!Is that a traditional costume?

I love the colors of Mexico! I'm getting a tiny bit of that here in AZ right now. I didn't realize how much I loved about Arizona until I moved away. Anyway, these pictures are great. Thanks for sharing!
