Quote of the month...

"Standing tall is a very admirable thing. There are very few stories in history of heroes who slouched to the rescue. Likewise, most individuals don't look up to people who are drooped over."

What's your medium? and your preferred canvas?

EmmaLece has been drawing on things lately. She knows where she's suppose to be expressing her artistic abilities, but has been branching out and discovering different mediums. Medium as defined by the American Heritage College Dictionary Third Edition: Medium 7a. A specific kind of artistic technique or means of expression as determined by the materials used or the creative methods involved. b. The materials used in a specific artistic technique. Having thus defined medium, let's now have a look at hers:The Wall Canvas using a nice well sharpened #2 pencil. The Body Canvas using a wonderful blue ball point pen.The Book Canvas using both the #2 pencil and the ball point pen.The materials for creative expression include: # 2 pencil, ball point any color ink pen, crayons, colored pencils, and markers!

Now with any luck in a few {like 9 or 10} years she will have moved on to these types of mediums:

These are two of Cody's graded art projects. This is his first year of art. He has noticed why the wrestler got a B instead of and A .... do you see it? He only has half a left arm ... and a hand! But everything else looks pretty good {if I do say so myself}! :-)

Cute. She is a budding artist...my middle daughter not only wrote on every surface she could find but she also carved her name and initials in any surface she could find....trees, deck, window sills etc. You would think she would have NOT signed her name.

Oh gosh I feel you on this one! Gracie went crazy choosing mediums for a while (the oven, the walls, the tub, my cedar chest...)and it made me insane. I looked at her once and said, "Where do we draw, Gracie?"

Her response? "On paper, but I was jus'tryin' to decorate!!!"

Ughhh.

By the way, Cody is really talented!

Vonda- Aren't kids funny? Robby got wise and started writing Cody on the walls and window sills.... problem with his reasoning is Cody is 6 years older and writes a bit {lot} nicer!
Cecily- I knew you could understand and enjoy this post! :) Cody says THANKS!

My kids are into graffiti. I did post on that a while ago. We're going to have to repaint our entire house from top to bottom. Eliza and Lane have both colored on the ceilings. Drives me crazy. I did hear that baking soda and water mixed into a paste will take it right off. We'll have to see.

My grandma is a wonderful artist/painter and so was her mom. I just wish I had an ounce of their creativity. I still have an unfinished painting at her house. Maybe I can just get her to finish it for me. I guess I'll stick to scrapbooking and toll painting.

Wow!!!
I love it when they do that! Janie wouldn't stop drawing on walls, and doors, and her bunk bed, and her body. At Parent Teacher conference, her teacher said..."Janie's VERY artistic..." And I said..."Oh, is that bad???" She was like, "Oh heaven's no...i've just noticed that she puts hearts and rainbows and flowers on all of her papers.."
You've gotta love the little artists!!

Melissa- I guess I'll have to go find your post on this subject. My dad and 2 of my siblings are artistic. I would have loved to take an art class, but I couldn't figure out how to work one into my day in HS.. Oh well, I'lve through Cody! :D
Holly- Aren't little artists so much fun!? :-) Cody says, Thanks!
Matchbox- Life would be so dull without the artists in it, huh?! :D

Ugh, yesterday Will drew all over my couches with pink pen, and all over the TV and walls with glue stick.

My daughter actually has ink all over her face at this moment. I guess she is the body as a medium type! :)
