Quote of the month...

"Standing tall is a very admirable thing. There are very few stories in history of heroes who slouched to the rescue. Likewise, most individuals don't look up to people who are drooped over."

52 Weeks of Blessings- week 13-- Young Womens and Young Mens

This weeks blessing is the Young Women and Young Men Programs! What wonderful programs they are to help us raise our youth in the right way ... so they become the best young women and young men. Well rounded, armed with the knowledge to survive the scary world we live in. Since my daughter turned 12 we had the opportunity to attend the General Young Women Meeting. It was awesome. I was sad that we had very low attendance, since it was also Prom night. For the Strength of youth, what a great tool! This small booklet gives the youth a place to turn for answers in areas like: Agency & Accountability, Gratitude, Education, Family, Friends, Dress & Appearance, Entertainment & the Media, Music & Dancing, Language, Dating, Sexual Purity, Repentance, Honesty,
Sabbath Day Observance, Tithes & Offerings, Physical Health, Service to Others, Go Forward with Faith plus a copy of both The Living Christ and The Family: A Proclamation to the World.
They are also given this book, True to the Faith, for further help along the way.The girls get personal progress books and Young Woman camp {used to be called Girl's camp} manual. These books help the girls to set and achieve goals that will help them throughout their lives.
The young men are given these books, Duty to God,
to help them to set and achieve goals that will also help them throughout life.I hope and pray that my children will use these helps to strengthen their testimonies and find answers to questions. I know I will try to help them see how valuable they are and how helpful they can be. What a struggle it is to raise the youth in this day and age, how thankful I am for the scriptures, these programs and the helps we have been provided.

I came away from the meeting so uplifted and inspired! It's so sad that there was a conflict with prom in your Stake.

Amen! Great programs! My children are all adults now and I can't say enough about the youth programs. They are wonderful resources to help us raise our children. It is so great for our children to be to have another adult teach the same standards we do in our homes. There are times that they will listen to those leaders, when they won't listen to us.
I also throughly enjoyed my callings in Young Women. In fact this year will my 18th year attending Young Women Camp. I totally love it!! My favorite part is the testimony meeting. Oh, my, it's amazing, we have wonderful youth in our church!!

What a great blessing! I have been thinking about having FHE around the For the Strength of Youth while they are young. I haven't seen the True to the Faith booklet or Duty to God ones before. I'm sure I will become very familiar with them soon!

I loved the YW program as a girl and later as a leader found even more appreciation for it. These programs are truly inspired. To think that they are used all over the world in different cultures and languages is amazing. Gospel principles have no cultural boundries. Very good blessing, I wouldn't have thought of this one.

Loved this post...very inspiring. Since Chase just turned 12 I am new to all the youth program has to offer. (it has changed a lot since I was there) I too am grateful for these tools and the blessings that will follow.

Oh... I have a little assignment for you on my blog! I hope it is not too "revealing"!
