Quote of the month...

"Standing tall is a very admirable thing. There are very few stories in history of heroes who slouched to the rescue. Likewise, most individuals don't look up to people who are drooped over."

Foto-story Friday #19-history project

OK first off, my computer and internet are having speaking troubles!  As in, they are forgetting that they like each other!  Every time I click on anything, it tells it is not connected to the internet!  So IF  I get this to post, it will be a miracle!  And IF we can stay on talking terms, I'll get over to visit all of you that I'm behind on or that have dropped by for any of the last 3 posts!  And now back to our scheduled post.....

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

As part of the 5th grade social studies, aka history, they study the indigenous people of the North American continent {Indians}.  Each student is to make something that encompasses their culture.  In the past my two older children have made different types of dwellings.  Savanna's teacher asked that they not be houses.  So she made a coup stick.
We looked on line for examples.  there were many different ones, so we just created our own style.  Here Savanna is threading a bead.
Tying off our "leather" lacings.
Attaching the feathers.
Yet another feather.
Coup Stick
The finished product.  Because we had see them with eagle talons and antlers, Savanna brought an antler to display hers on.  The teacher was happy that she had made a coup stick.
Just for fun here are Cody and Shantel with their 5th grade projects:

Sorry about the miscommunication with the comp and the internet, mine has been giving me a bit of trouble too. Now, on to the stick thing, it looks great. I think it is nice that her project is so different from the other two. Talk with you later sis.

Well, all of the projects look great, but I've got to tell you, the coup stick idea is great! Very original. I have a fifth grader this year as well, and I'm going to keep this in mind.
Great job, it looks fantastic.
Sorry to hear about your computer.
