Quote of the month...

"Standing tall is a very admirable thing. There are very few stories in history of heroes who slouched to the rescue. Likewise, most individuals don't look up to people who are drooped over."

give-away

Anne Bradshaw is hosting another give-away for this on CD. It is a mystery suspense and sounds like a good one.
Story info:
A Celtic scholar is murdered when she finds a clue to a priceless fifth-century manuscript that could prove the identity of King Arthur. Determined to find the ancient relic and avenge her sister's death, Maren Southcott begins a quest that immediately puts her own life in danger.

In the tradition of Mary Higgins Clark, The Arthurian Omen weaves a tale of mystery and suspense as pursuit of the manuscript winds through the medieval castles and monasteries of Wales. Stalked by a psychopath with delusions of a Welsh revolution, Maren is shaken to the core when a new crisis threatens to destroy the one person she loves most. Can she find the manuscript before the murderer strikes again? Or is the manuscript — and the legend — better left buried in the past?

If you want to enter drop by Anne's blog.

: "when a silly Indonesian woman tries to write in English (a contest)".

The rules:
1. I want you to pick any of my post in this blog, that you think has mistakes in writings, grammar, anything (in English)--- (which I believe each post does :P..). then post it on your blog. in your post you should:
* write on your tittle: "when a silly Indonesian woman tries to write in English (a contest)". if i still write this tittle wrong, go write it right..
* tell in the beginning of the post you do, about this give away and link to this post.
* optional: rewrite the post you choose, and its tittle. or just show me where the mistakes are... (you can skip this if you feel don't want to do)
* tell me how you think about this blog, in any way (you can choose one, or two, or all): the language, the topics, the style, the look, the pictures, anything! remember, I don't mind if you tell bad things, as long as it is not rude. I'll take it as a critic.

I will post my corrections in purple,
either right in the sentence or as a whole new one.

The Post:
I am overloaded....

with the kid fights.

I don't know why each time my kids get close to one another there always is a fight. Yesterday I really felt I had too much of it.

first: Ibit VS Ar. fought over.... I forgot what. I was reading in the living room and they fought over something in the kitchen, on their way to their room. results: crying and shout.
I was reading in the living room, when I heard them fighting in the kitchen on the way to their room. results: crying and shouting

second: Ibit VS Ir. Ibit was looking for her 'monopoly' in nanny's cupboard and found a fan she used in dance, when she was in second grade. The fan is what they were fighting over. result: I don't know how, but they broke nanny's lamp plus crying and shouting.

third: Ar VS Ir. object: unknown. result: Ir bit Ar's finger. crying and shouting.

That's enough! I said, "Why do you guys always fight when you get close one another? Ok then, tonight I don't want to see you in the same place with any other of you"
OK, then tonight, I don't want you anywhere near each other.

I brought Ir to sleep in the praying room upstairs. yes tonight they all have to sleep alone.
it would be easy for Ibit since she's always been sleeping alone in her own room. but Ar and Ir have been sharing the same bed since they were zygots, and I believe it was hard. have I been so mean?
Tonight, everyone will sleep alone. It is easy for Ibit, since she has always had her own room and slept alone, but for Ar and Ir who have always been together since they were zygots, I believe it was very hard. I had Ir sleep upstairs in the praying room. Have I been terribly mean?

Ir didn't say a word, but I know he was sad.
Ar, you can't expect him to just keep what he feels inside.
He asked, "Why does Ir have to sleep upstairs?"
"Because you two always have a fight whenever you get close," I replied.
"But not when we are sleeping. Let us sleep together," he begged.
I giggled, "Of course you can't fight when you are asleep." I said, "NO."

I asked Dan, "Is this going to be temporary or permanent?"
"Temporary," he replied.
'isn't it a good idea to separate Ar Ir in the different rooms?'
"Do you think it's a good idea to split Ar and Ir up? Give them different rooms?"
"Is that necessary?" he asked.

so I accompanied Ir and Dan accompanied Ar until they fell asleep. and this morning, they both stick together so sweetly. ah....
I went with Ir upstairs and Dan went with Ar to the room. We stayed with them until they fell asleep. This morning, they are stuck together so sweetly.

It was nerve wracking to edit someone's writing. In some cases changing the whole sentence to make it sound right to my ears. Which might not be the case for all of your ears! Thank you, Latree for this unique opportunity to test my skills in the English language. (The Americanized version of English, that is!)
I really enjoy Dandelion blog and learn a lot about her culture, I would otherwise never have learned. We women are all the same, in so many ways and no matter where we live, we have the same fears, hopes and dreams. We all get tired of our kids fighting, we all hope for a better brighter future, we all have dreams and wishes for ourselves, and our families. If you haven't met Latree, I encourage you to drop by and say "HI".

It is possible that I didn't actually take this shot, but I did set it up. There were a few of us snapping photos that night and I call it 'Young Love'. They are such a cute couple. They have been married for years, probably pushing 50 years together. He is SO devoted to her. She has recently gotten bad with her altzheimers.

This is my brother-in-law and son on the day they were sealed in the Spokane Temple. I call this one 'Father's Love'.

Foto Story Friday #32 -- Kohunlich, Mexico cont.

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

For our last excursion foto-story I give you the rest of the ruins ruins at Kohunlich, Mexico. After the Howler monkeys, we looked around at this huge area. Kohunlich is a massive site. We couldn't even see everything because of time restrictions. 4 hours on busses, leaves very limited time at the site for exploring. I could have spent hours wondering around taking pictures.
Last week I left you in the plaza.    Through the plaza there was another temple dating back to BC times.  There were ruins all over but I hurried over to see this temple.
First sight of it..... well, not really, I was trying to get it without a bunch of people.... didn't work though.  I really like the thatched roof.
Shot from the corner looking up.
there are three gods flanking each side of the steps.  You can see two of them in this shot.
Second  face of the left side.
Top face on the left.  Our guide said they were covered and as they pealed back the layers, they found these perfectly intact faces.  He said that they would get tired of say the gold and cover it in jade or the other way around and often if you you are lucky you will find layers of precious stone or metals.
Troy climbed up this temple.
The rooms at the top of the temple.  There were three small ones.
The view from the top of the temple.
Looking down the steps. I stood up here waiting for the perfect shot, never happened.  The people do give it a perspective though.  There were several others standing up there with me, in the shade listening to our guide and hoping for The Shot. One guy who gave me camera envy and I were talking.  He said that he'd gotten in trouble for taking pictures with his tripod.  He has such a fancy camera and a big 'ole tripod, they assumed he was professional.  I told him that he gave me camera envy and he just laughed! :)
Top face, right side.
Middle face, right side... this one is a double face.
Bottom face right side.  I do wish I could remember all that our guide told us, but I can't.
Looking up the steps.  You can see Shelby our guide and owner of Liahona Guided Tours.  He is full of info.
Another corner shot, from a little different level.
The back side, just look how tall it is!
The other corner.
I didn't take this one, my friend, Cami did.  We were rushing back to the buses for lunch and the ride back to the ship.
I wanted to go peek around these low wall to see what was back there, but the time was gone. :(
The palace from the back.
The guys working hard to restore this building.  Go ahead and enlarge it, the top guy, he saw I was taking their picture and tried to get his buddy to pose.  He put on his best smile for me.
One last look as we rushed to the bus.
We grabbed our sandwich, chips and drink and set off.  We didn't get far, as the Mexican police had the cars in front stopped.  The let the bus by.
But the cars were a different story.  As we watched from our seats, they got the people out and searched the car.  I guess they were making sure nothing was taken from the site.
I was unable to get a picture of the gals standing on the side of the road peddling their wares.... cut-up fruit, and drinks in water bottles.  Scary!
headed back to the ship. (picture by my father-in-law)  next week I just might show you a bit of the ship fun.....

My World -- Places of Worship-- churches and bars

Visit the my world blog for more tours.
I haven't done a My World post in a few weeks.  As I was considering what I wanted to share about my world, I thought that it would be interesting to take a trip around town and see just how many places of worship our little map dot offers.  I mentioned this to Troy and he thought I should combine it with how many bars/pubs/lounges/taverns we had as well.  I attempted to capture each church with the name visible so that all would see the different denominations. When possible I will provide little insights in to the buildings.
The First Baptist Church  In the next lot is an education center also run by this church.
While this is an eating establishment, it is also a pub.
The Glendive Alliance Church
The Elks, a bar/rental hall.  Parties and wedding receptions are held here.
The West Side Baptist Church I wish I could have taken this one from the overpass, but it is not necessarily wise to stop on the overpass to snap a photo.
Southside Tavern    I like the bit of art on this building.
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses   The only church I saw that was without windows.
The Wagon Wheel Bar and Cafe
White Chapel Mennonite Church
The Moose Lodge bar and rental hall.  Parties, weddings, and sometimes AAU wresting practices are held here.
The Sacred Heart Catholic Church   This is a very large building that I had trouble getting a good shot of, so I settled on this with the front doors and a stained glass window seen through the leafless tree.
The Beer Jug  While a bar at heart, it is also a good place to get a sandwich.  We love to get a Swiss Brat on rye here!
St. Matthew's Episcopal Church  This cute little church sits on the corner across from a bank, dentist and the quilt shop.
The Twilite lounge sits on the corner of the two main roads through town.  It no longer serves food.
United Methodist Church  Recently added the new entrance seen on the far left of the photo.
American Legion bar
The New Life Ministries UPCI
The Oasis Bar
Glendive Evangelical Church of North America
The V.F.W. Bar Lounge
The First Congregational Church United Church of Christ  The girl scouts meet in this church twice a month.
Doc & Eddies has an enclosed  "casino" area and is also an eating establishment.
Zion Lutheran Church  This is an enormous building and there was no way I could get a good shot of the whole thing and the sign.  As is was, the lighting was not good for this shot either.  They have a donation room off in the back left of the building called the furniture room.  A good place to donate your gently used furniture/household items.
The sign is nearly hidden by the shrubbery, but I zoomed in and captured it.
This building is also hard to capture all of in a good shot on the slippery roads of my town.  This building like most LDS buildings has a full-size basketball court.  In the past, the middle school has held girls basketball practices here when all the school gyms were busy.
The Seventh Day Adventist Church
The Breakforth Bible Church  This church meets in an old store.  They recently bought another building across the drive also previously owned by a grocery store.
Our Savior Lutheran Church Missouri SYNOD  This church is located on the same block as the Catholic church.
The Glendive Assembly of God Church
The Church of Christ

As you can see much to the surprise of us, we offer more churches than bars.  18 churches to 11 bars, not bad for a little hick town in Eastern Montana!  Places of Worship, it is all a perspective....  I do believe that some worship in a sense the drink while other worship is a whole other sense in these houses of the Lord.
