Quote of the month...

"Standing tall is a very admirable thing. There are very few stories in history of heroes who slouched to the rescue. Likewise, most individuals don't look up to people who are drooped over."

My World -- still winter?

join us and show your world.

Sunday when church let out, it was snowing and blowing and cold! We had near blizzard conditions for several hours and we accumulated about 4 inches on the ground and drifts of 6 inches. The above photo was taken right out the front door.
Look at how the snow drifted or piled up on the suburban.
We are hoping that spring will arrive soon to the band lands of Montana!

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

Dinner Chefs.
A few weeks ago, I didn't want to cook {OK, so that is a pretty much daily occurence round here! :) } my 10 1/2 yr old and my 9yr old took matters into their own hands. Savanna and Robby went to the freezer, pantry and fridge and pulled out the ingredients for shepherds pie. Then they set to work thawing, chopping , opening and cooking dinner. The following photos tell their tale of these two upcoming chefs!

It was very tasy and I didn't have to do a thing cept snap photos and supervise! Good job kids you will not starve! :)

Foto Story Friday #41 -- A night for Robby

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

We have been trying to working on behavior and respect with this growing boy. He has had to earn his wii time by showing respect for others and being kind as well as listening. He did very well and earned his sticker for 2 weeks straight, so we took him out to dinner all by himself! He picked the place to dine (our choices are limited).
Choosing his dinner.
For starters, salad and orange soda.
Mom and Dad had chocolate shakes, don't they look inviting?!
Finally his steak and fries arrived!
Then afterward we stopped by the Conoco for some Wilcoxsons Ice cream. It was a great evening!

Join the fun of WC at Hope and Believe.
This week's challenge says: "Since I'm all out of ideas, I thought I give myself something kind of easy and yet artistic at the same time. So, this WC is all about LINES. They are found EVERYWHERE! Have fun! And please link us up to your work. We love to see what you come up with. Anyone can play."

Power lines
Lines on the playground.
Bridge lines.
Wood lines.
Line of swingers.
Line of kids walking to the playground. The weather was SO nice yesterday that we went for a walk or two! These were all taken on our walks.

Foto Story Friday #40 artistic

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by CecilyandMamaGeek

A little doodling at the table.
Started while he was suppose to be sleeping.
Just some doodling. I thought this looked cool cause when you held it up you could see through it.
Homework, watercolors.
This kid has always drawn. When he was about 4-5 my parents bought a motor-home, Cody drew a picture of it for them. I've always been impressed by his talent. I hope he continues to draw and develop it. It may never bring him millions but if it brings him joy and happiness as it does me, then I pray he never stops drawing.

inspiration and education

Last week I got an email from Aunt Claudia:

"Hey, Ms Carrie!

Byron and I have been watching a show on PBS called:
Every time we watch it, we think about you and Byron says, "You need to tell Carrie about this show!" Art travels the world with his camera and captures all these awesome shots. He explains how he sets up the shot he wants and why it caught his attention. He talks about light and horizons and dust and people. Then he shares his pictures with the people he's shooting. Its very interesting!
Someone like you who does such a great job with your camera would get so inspired by him! Just thinking about you and sending love your way.
Hugs to all,
Aunt Claudia"

Today, when we arrived home from a drive around town, this box was in between the 2 doors. Inside the box was:
On the card it reads:
"Just for you and your photographer's heart.
Love Aunt Claudia"

I just want to say a big Thank you to Aunt Claudia and Uncle Byron!
I have nearly read the whole of: The Art of Photographing Nature. Amazing pictures! All the advice on how to achieve the perfect shots. And I have glanced through: Photography Outdoors. I have not found the show yet on PBS, so I'm really excited about these books ...... Now, Ry, come over so we can use your cameras and lenses! :)

Foto Story Friday #39 A Socking Story

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

On Monday, there was no school, so Troy took Cody and Scott to help Grandpa get his new washer and dryer. Troy called to say that he would be going to the grocery store and then to K-mart was there anything else I needed. I asked him to please get Cody some new socks, as I was folding clothes and ALL of his were sporting huge holes in them. Troy said he wasn't going to buy him new socks because he doesn't tie his shoes... I told him he had to get him new socks even if he doesn't tie his shoes. I hate to tie mine and never do unless I'm out riding or playing volleyball, so what's the big deal? Anyway, because of the time and appointments, Troy brought the boys home and went to finish helping his dad. I took Em to the doctor for her foot .. she has a nasty plantars wart on the bottom of her foot causing her pain, the Doc froze it and we headed back home.(long story for another post.) While I was gone, Troy gave Cody permission to go hang out with his buddy until dinner time. When we got home, Troy said he'd bought Cody some socks and himself some too, since they were on sale. He got different styles so they wouldn't get them mixed up. (Cody's foot is one size smaller than Troy's.) I thought this was a wise idea and promptly put it out of my mind.
Cody arrived home and I said: "Cody, Dad bought you some new socks, I think they are on your bed."
He replied: "Cool," and ran down to get them.
I was ultra busy .... reading a book when he came back up saying: "Was Dad mad at me when he bought my socks?"
Me: "Umm yeah, he wasn't happy about having to buy you new socks, why?"
Cody: "Mommmmmmmm, look!"
This is what I saw when I pulled my eyes off the book! Now you may not find this nearly as entertaining as I did. Here's the thing, Cody likes the ankle socks and these were SO far from his likes that I could totally see how he would assume his father was ticked at him. But all I could do was LAUGH! I laughed so hard I cried, I couldn't even breath for a few minutes!
We had to get a few shots of just HOW long these puppies are!
Me: "Come on they can't be THAT bad, just try them on."
Cody: "I'm not sure they will even pull ALL the way up!"
Cody: "Mom, you've GOT to be kidding?! I don't really have to wear these, do I?"
Me: "Well, you've tried them on so, yes you're going to have to wear them."
Cody: "Oh yeah, I'm going to look AWESOME in gym class! These are going to look wonderful with shorts!"
He HAD to wear them yesterday..... and he had them bunched up at his ankles!
I'm still laughing :D
